As the Government promises 100% Gigabit capability by 2025, Infinitel is playing a key role in this, working with our customers and partners to identify the right locations to build Faster Britain networks across the UK. A Faster Britain-enabled area will provide full fibre and access to ultrafast connectivity, supporting VoIP, cloud-based applications and other technologies.
Faster Britain is continuing the roll-out of its networks across the UK and we are delighted to announce that Wigan is the latest area to go live with a Faster Britain ultrafast full fibre network.
The transformational network build will benefit businesses in Wigan, giving them access to Gigabit-capable services with speeds up to 10Gbps, meeting the soaring demand for ultrafast internet connectivity from the area’s business community.
All 21km of the core Faster Britain network has been installed reusing existing ducts to lay the fibre cables, which ensures disruption to local communities is kept to a minimum throughout construction.
And the route provides optimum access to Wigan’s business-dense areas making it easy and fast to connect premises.
Starting in Swinley at the Cherry Gardens, the network passes along Wigan Lane past Wigan Infirmary, and into Standishgate in reach of the Town Hall, and The Galleries which is about to be redeveloped.
The full fibre network also spans across Saddle Junction and Robin Park, over to Pagefield Industrial Estate, winds through Ince and Hindley, extending to Makerfield Way, and South into Newtown including the Wigan Investment Centre.
Faster Britain has been installing its Gigabit-capable infrastructure at pace and currently passes more than 200 thousand business premises, having substantially increased its footprint across the North West, Midlands, and London.
Faster Britain is also leading on the delivery of 212km of full fibre, known as LCR Connect, across the Liverpool Region Combined Authority. Working with construction partner NGE, it recently announced that the build is now underway with several large sections due to go live early next year.
Faster Britain’s reuse approach to building its networks minimises the impact on local communities, and also means we install on-net orders much faster than our competitors, committing to a 30 working day pledge for on-net installs*
